The Superior Court of Justice (STJ) received a request for summons from Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in a lawsuit filed against him in the United States. The president of the court, Herman Benjamin, will decide on the proceedings.

The lawsuit is filed against Moraes by the social network Rumble and by Trump Media, the company of the President of the United States, Donald Trump. As GLOBO reported, the case has stalled because the American court has not yet summoned the magistrate. Previously, the indicated location for the citation was Moraes' residential address in São Paulo.

The companies filed a lawsuit in the Federal Court of Florida in February with the aim of blocking Moraes' orders to remove profiles from their platforms. They argue that the minister's decisions exceed his authority.

The request for summons was registered with the STJ on Thursday as a letter rogatory and is being processed confidentially. The STJ's regulations state that it is up to the president of the court to determine whether or not to proceed with the process.

Still in February, the American court rejected a request for a preliminary injunction against Moraes. Judge Mary Scriven did not assess the merits of the request made by the companies but stated in her decision that Moraes' decisions do not apply to the jurisdiction of the United States.
