Emin Gün Sirer: Satoshi Nakamoto's 1,000,000 Bitcoins face quantum threats
According to Odaily Planet Daily, Avalanche founder Emin Gün Sirer stated that Satoshi Nakamoto's 1,000,000 Bitcoins may face quantum threats. The Pay-To-Public-Key format used in early Bitcoin exposes public keys, increasing the risk of attacks.
Modern Bitcoin wallets and systems like Avalanche no longer use P2PK, but the Bitcoin community may need to consider freezing Satoshi Nakamoto's 1,000,000 Bitcoins, or set a final date to freeze all Bitcoins on P2PK UTXOs.
Google announced the launch of the latest quantum chip Willow, claiming it can complete calculations that would take the current top computers 10 to the 25th power years in just 5 minutes.
