According to DefiLlama, after the hack, the amount of value locked in the project's smart contract dropped to $0.47. Stars Arena made a statement about the hack on social media platform X:
“We are very sorry for what happened. Our smart contract was exploited and funds were drained. The site is currently under a DDOS attack. We are working on a solution that will get everyone's money back and Arena moving forward. We will keep you informed of the developments. Thank you all for your continued support as we navigate this difficult situation.”
PeckShield said the vulnerability was caused by a re-entry issue that allowed attackers to sell tickets for much higher prices than they were worth, up to $2,740 each. Users of the application will be able to withdraw the tokens in their wallets through the application. However, they will not receive any value if they sell tickets that represent access to other people's chat groups they own. After nearly $3 million of AVAX funds were stolen from the platform, the AVAX price dropped from $11.88 to $10.50. Finally, at press time, it is trading with a slight increase at $10.77.
