Decentralized social network Friend.tech has announced an updated feature that allows users to add and remove various login methods used to access their personal accounts, following SIM-swap reports. On October 4, Friend.tech said the settings were made accessible through the app after tapping the user's wallet.
The platform continued to ask why users had not enabled the two-factor authentication password feature. Friend.tech said that the feature, in its current state, would likely cause users to lock themselves out of their accounts. He stated that he recommended UX updates to Privy, the company he uses to enable privacy features.
After the exploits on October 4, users reported accounts compromised by hackers who took control of their mobile numbers. According to reports, more than 100 (ETH) were offloaded in just one week. The exploits continued until October 5, during which time the scammers managed to obtain at least $385,000 worth of ETH.
