ChainCatcher reported that according to The Blcok, Sam Bankman-Fried’s lawyers are trying to prevent a Ukrainian customer from testifying in the trial of the founder of the failed cryptocurrency exchange, saying that such testimony "will only arouse the sympathy and anger of the jury" and that the Justice Department’s earlier request to allow Ukrainian FTX customers to testify remotely should be rejected.
On Saturday, the Justice Department asked the court to allow a Ukrainian witness to testify remotely because the witness had "unique circumstances that made international travel more problematic." Prosecutors described the witness as a young Ukrainian male who "entrusted a significant portion of his life savings to FTX when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022." The lawyers added: "The unique testimony presented by this witness will clearly reference the hardships and personal circumstances caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine."
