Computing power prices have now become on-chain trading assets.
According to reports from PANews and others, Injective has launched the Super Intelligence Compute Index (SICI), which combines the rental prices of several NVIDIA GPUs into an on-chain benchmark, alongside perpetual contracts offering up to approximately 10x leverage. The team says more related financial products will be added in the coming days. The idea is to move “GPU rental costs” from operations spreadsheets onto derivatives order books.
How to assess it: The index’s usefulness depends on whether its components are transparent, how often prices are sampled, and how resistant it is to manipulation—as well as whether perpetual funding rates diverge from spot rental prices over the long term. 10x leverage may suit short-term views, but it is not a way to “stockpile computing power” itself. At launch, first check the official contract and index methodology before deciding whether to use leverage.
