📊 A woman from Caracas in the backbone of NASA’s most ambitious rocket
The Artemis program is no technological whim: it is the most serious attempt of the 21st century to return humans to the lunar surface and test the routes that will one day take us to Mars. And at the heart of that architecture, specifically in the integration of the Space Launch System (SLS)—the heavy-lift rocket that propels the Orion capsule into deep space—a Venezuelan woman is at work.
Nathalie Quintero was born in Caracas, studied at Colegio Las Cumbres, and moved to the United States in 2011 to pursue Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida. Years later, while continuing to work, she earned a master’s degree in Systems Engineering from Cornell. Today, her name appears on the technical front lines of the planet’s most expensive and closely watched space program.
