The L2 network Base just launched the Base MCP (Model Context Protocol), allowing AI agents like Claude and ChatGPT to directly initiate on-chain operations — from swaps to interactions with Uniswap and Aerodrome — right within the chat interface. There's no leaking of private keys by the AI: the agent merely forms the transaction, and the final approval and asset simulation are done by the user manually in the Base wallet window, making the architecture secure.

This will have a strong long-term impact on the market, promoting the x402 payment standard from Coinbase and turning Base into the main hub for an autonomous AI economy, although right now we shouldn't expect a pump for $COIN or ecosystem tokens — the technology is geared towards developers and real utility, not speculative hype.
