The World Championship is underway! The LPL teams’ opponents are: IG vs GEN TES vs HLE AL vs KC BLG vs MKOI Two China vs. Korea matchups and two China vs. Europe matchups. To see why IG and TES got such tough draws, just look at who they could have drawn instead. IG were in Pool 4, so they had to face a team from Pool 1 in the first round. They couldn’t draw AL, as they’re from the same region, leaving GEN, G2, and TLAW. In the end, they got GEN. It was much the same for TES. As a Pool 3 team, they had to face a team from Pool 2. BLG were off the table because they’re from the same region, so TES could have drawn TSW or Brazil’s top seed, among others. Instead, they got HLE. Both teams face an LCK opponent on day one, so there’s no need to wait for a China vs. Korea showdown. AL and BLG face KC and MKOI, respectively, and avoid the LCK in the first round. Naturally, they’ll be hoping to win these matchups. But all first-round games are BO1s, so if something goes wrong in the draft or early game, there’s no second game to make adjustments. It’s a little early to pencil in two wins just by looking at the team names. The other four matchups are: TLAW vs CFO G2 vs DK LOS vs T1 TSW vs LYON Aside from the four LPL matchups, G2 vs. DK is another one to watch. All eight BO1s are scheduled for the same day, featuring China vs. Korea, China vs. Europe, and Europe vs. Korea—and they’re all starting in the early hours of the morning. The result of the first round determines which record pool teams enter next. Winners move into the 1-0 pool, while losers go into the 0-1 pool. From there, teams continue to be drawn against others with the same record. Three wins means qualification; three losses means elimination. Starting from the second round, teams from the same region can also face each other. So even if a team avoids the LCK in round one, it might not do so in the next round—and could even face a team from its own region. There’s another rule worth noting: teams won’t face each other more than once during the Swiss stage. Based on these matchups, IG and GEN, as well as TES and HLE, won’t meet again in the Swiss stage after their first-round games. This restriction only applies to the Swiss stage, though—they could still meet in the playoffs. The games begin at 1 a.m. Beijing time on October 24. All eight first-round matches are BO1s. We’ll have to wait for the official schedule to confirm who plays first and what time each team takes the stage. #英雄联盟 #全球总决赛 #LPL

A loss of more than half a million dollars didn’t stop this trader from raising his stake. Title: He lost more than $500,000. He bought shares worth $52,000 on NIP’s win over EDG on Polymarket’s platform for the showdown against LPL Knight Road. The average entry price was 82.3 cents, for a total of 63,953.5 shares, along with additional positions of roughly $10,000 on NIP’s win in the second match. The matchup began today in a Best-of-Five format, and NIP is currently leading 1-0. 🎮 Main bet: $52,000 Average entry price: 82.3 cents Game 2 positions: around $10,000 In my opinion, the size of the bet after a streak of losses of this magnitude makes the deal more interesting than just predicting the outcome of a match. 👀 Will this bold bet turn into a winning trade as NIP continues to lead? #Polymarket #NIP #EDG #LPL #crypto
