🚨 Major Australian Pension Fund Eyes Crypto: Hostplus Considers Bitcoin & Digital Assets!
Hostplus — Australia’s 3rd-largest super fund by members (2.2 million) and 5th-largest by AUM (over $96B) — is actively exploring crypto offerings due to strong member demand.
CIO Sam Sicilia told Bloomberg: “There’s certainly a demand from some of our members who write in and say, ‘Why can’t I have access to cryptocurrency?’”
Plans could launch as early as next financial year via their ChoicePlus self-managed option (Bitcoin + other digital assets), pending regulatory approval and consumer protections.
Crypto has come a long way since they first reviewed it a decade ago. SMSFs have already seen huge growth in crypto exposure — now big institutions are catching up.
