Ethereum has signed a “military order” for the entire network for the year 2029, and the fight against quantum threats has only just begun.
A hardcore roadmap—yet it coincides with the quietest day imaginable. On September 8, the Ethereum Foundation’s Protocol Team released a prioritized list of EIPs for the “Hegotá” upgrade. Out of all 62 proposals, 15 are marked as Priority A, 8 as Priority B “depending on the circumstances,” and 28 are outright rejected. The real highlight is the timeline: at all three layers—execution, verification, and data—fully realizing quantum-resistance capability, with the deadline set for December 2029.
#ETH Compared with the day-to-day ups and downs, this feels more like chassis engineering.
Hegotá is expected to go live at the end of 2026. Two core EIPs are central to it: FOCIL (EIP-7805) will forcibly be included with public mempool transactions, directly targeting resistance to censorship; EIP-8141 (Frame) provides domain isolation to pave the way for a whole chain of future upgrades. The Foundation’s intent is very straightforward: don’t wait for quantum threats to appear before taking action—strengthen the base years in advance.
#FOCIL But the market side is unusually calm. ETH is at $2,497, up 0.60% over 24 hours; its market cap is $304.8 billion. Meanwhile, BTC is at $78,879, up 0.17%; SOL is at $103.94, up 0.76%. While big coins grind together, this move by Ethereum is unlikely to show an immediate, direct pull on price in the short term. What it’s really selling is expectations and early prep—not this week’s candlestick chart.
What I’m more curious about is something else: anyone can create a pretty-looking K-line with a coordinated pump, but the real test of time comes from people who start working years ahead. In a lively market, there are those willing to quietly lay the groundwork bit by bit when nobody’s paying attention—and I think that’s the story truly worth watching.
