Does your exchange in the EU have a MiCA licence, or is it operating under regulatory forbearance?
I’m asking because Bitcoin.de’s forbearance just ended.
BaFin denied a licence to futurum bank, the bank that the exchange operates through, saying it wasn’t operationally ready.
The application was submitted on June 27, 2025. The regulator also withdrew the previous forbearance.
There’s been almost no trading on the exchange since June 12, 2026. And it has over 1,100,000 registered users who can’t just buy or sell
$BTC Here’s what they say:
- Client assets are in custody, and claims remain valid
- Trading will return through regulated partners “within the next few weeks”
So, according to them, the money is there, but there’s no exchange as such. Who knows how many others are still operating under forbearance, so the answer is simple: check the licence register, not the news.
