What is EigenCloud (EIGEN)?
EIGEN is a digital token associated with EigenCloud and EigenLayer, developed to support verifiable processes across cloud-based applications and autonomous systems. It is designed to enable accountability in environments where multiple participants contribute to validating outcomes.
EigenCloud focuses on building a verifiable infrastructure for AI agents and applications. The platform provides mechanisms for verifying computation, data usage, and inference processes. It aims to support systems where operations can be validated through cryptoeconomic methods, allowing developers to create applications that rely on consistent and auditable execution.
The EIGEN token functions as a work token within the EigenLayer ecosystem. It is used to support tasks that require agreement beyond purely objective verification. These include scenarios where multiple observers assess whether an action has been performed correctly. The token is applied in staking, validation activities across Actively Validated Services, and in assigning rewards or penalties to operators based on performance. It complements ETH restaking by addressing tasks that involve intersubjective validation.
EigenLayer and EigenCloud were developed by Eigen Labs, Inc., a company established in 2021 and based in Washington, United States. The project was founded by Sreeram Kannan.
The total supply of EIGEN is 1.8 billion tokens, while the circulating supply is approximately 691.09 million tokens.
