Scammers are stealing funds under the name of Binance.
Hong Kong police have warned the public about scammers pretending to be representatives of Binance, and disseminating fraudulent messages. Local media reports confirm this.
According to law enforcement, they have received 11 reports of fund theft within a span of 14 days, resulting in approximately $450,000 in damages.
In their statement, the police revealed that the scammers had been distributing various fake messages impersonating Binance on the Net Keeper platform.
Users who clicked on phishing links were at risk of compromising their exchange accounts.
Additionally, the police provided several pieces of advice for investors:
- Pay attention to security risks associated with platforms and networks.
- Choose a trading platform that is licensed in Hong Kong.
- Keep significant amounts of assets in "cold" wallets.
Earlier, the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong announced the implementation of several measures to protect investor interests.
