The unannounced wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce has already generated more than $4 million in trading volume on prediction platform Kalshi. Bettors are placing wagers on, among other things, the location, the date, and even the bridesmaids.
According to Kalshi, the entertainment industry grew from $43 million in 2024 to more than $300 million in 2025. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, the music markets were already worth more than $400 million. With that, total entertainment volume in 2026 is on track to reach $1 billion.
Location and timing drive the biggest bets
The location market attracted $2.26 million in volume, making it the largest Swift-Kelce trading category on Kalshi. New York has an 80% chance, while Rhode Island stands at 21%. At Polymarket, the focus is even sharper: there Manhattan gets an 85% chance.
A permit for a street closure near Madison Square Garden on July 3 has reinforced speculation about the date. Neither Swift nor Kelce is listed on the permit.
According to Kalshi, the chance that the wedding happens this year is 95.5%. Polymarket estimates the chance it takes place by August 31 at 96%. According to the permit, there will be a tent outside the arena where between 500 and 999 guests can go.
New York City celebrates that same weekend both the July 4 festivities and FIFA World Cup matches.
Separate markets track who is in the wedding party. Jason Kelce leads as the best man with a 89% chance, followed by Patrick Mahomes with 72%.
On the side of the bridesmaids, Abigail Anderson Berard has an 85% chance of being the ceremony master. Selena Gomez follows with 76%, and Gigi Hadid stands at 54%. Blake Lively and Brittany Mahomes, on the other hand, have dropped to an 8% chance.
Celebrity markets break records—Kalshi is aiming for $40 billion
The Swift-Kelce hype comes as prediction markets show record monthly transactions. The number of monthly active users reached 865,411 in March 2026, up 118% year over year. Monthly volume was $23.89 billion, a 1,107% year-over-year increase.
The sector grew from about $1.2 billion in monthly volume in April 2025. By March 2026, it was already over $25 billion. In an ongoing funding round, Kalshi is targeting a valuation of $40 billion—up from $22 billion a month earlier.
The platform has also been expanded thanks to a prediction partnership for the World Cup, which increased the range of market categories.
Female traders are changing the audience of the prediction market
On Kalshi, the number of female traders has doubled over the past year. This shows that markets focused on celebrities appeal to a broader audience than standard investors. Research also indicates that U.S. voters consult prediction markets in addition to regular polling.
A bill is making the rounds in Congress to ban prediction markets. However, it hasn’t been passed yet. Still, Kalshi’s reach in sports, politics, and pop culture is growing steadily.
