PANews reported on February 6th, according to The Block, that Strategy's CEO Phong Le stated during the Strategy fourth quarter financial performance webinar that Bitcoin needs to drop to $8,000 and remain at that level for five to six years to pose a real threat to the repayment of its convertible debt. Strategy's Executive Chairman Michael Saylor also dismissed concerns about quantum computing in Bitcoin, calling it "scary FUD."
Strategy's company report stated that the net loss for the quarter was $12.6 billion, primarily due to the price of Bitcoin falling below the company's average acquisition cost, resulting in unrealized losses on its digital asset holdings. Strategy's Chief Financial Officer Andrew Kang stated, "These results are clearly impacted by the decline in Bitcoin's market value at the end of the quarter, and we are using a market value accounting method." However, Kang also pointed out that the company is pursuing a long-term strategy and added, "Even in the face of market volatility, we will continue to execute our established strategy."
