Bitcoin is stuck at $75K. Fear is everywhere. And your feed just told you OP pumped 13% on an Upbit listing.

It didn't. That headline is from July 2025.

Someone re-syndicated a year-old CoinJournal story this morning and it's doing the rounds again — same "$0.71 to $0.84" move, same "$700M volume," same "$2 target." The chart image inside it is even dated 28 July 2025. The real Upbit listing happened that day: OP opened in KRW, BTC and USDT pairs at 16:30 KST, spiked 13%, and that was fifteen months ago.

Here's what $OP is actually doing today: about $0.10. Roughly flat on the day, down 11% on the week, and 98% below its $4.84 all-time high from March 2024. Its all-time low — $0.0807 — was set barely three months ago, in August. OP is only about 26% above it. Volume is around $17M, not $700M.

So why does this matter? Because the listing game is real — just not where that headline points. The actual fresh listing this week was CARDS: Upbit listed it on 5 November and it jumped 30% in fifteen minutes to $0.33. Coinbase followed on 6 November. Three days later it's back at $0.22. That's the Upbit effect in one chart — a violent spike, then the fade. SIGN did +60% on its Upbit listing in April 2025. MOODENG did +39% in July. TREE did +90% in August. And a 2026 study of 207 listings found Upbit listings averaged -13.5% after seven days and -25.7% after thirty. None of them held the spike.

The levels that actually matter for $OP now are small numbers with big consequences. Support sits at $0.10 — the lower Bollinger band — then $0.09. Lose $0.10 and the August low at $0.0807 is the next line in the sand. Resistance is $0.11, then $0.12 at the 20-day moving average, then $0.13. Reclaiming $0.12-$0.13 is what would change the picture. Until then the tape reads weak, with RSI near 41 and derivatives flat.

And the honest risks: about 343M OP is scheduled to enter circulation between now and April 2027 — roughly 15% more supply. Base, the biggest OP Stack chain, walked away from the stack in February. The buyback programme that was supposed to offset the supply is shrinking with it. OP is a governance token, not gas — network usage doesn't mechanically lift the price.

None of this makes Optimism dead. The OP Stack still powers 50+ chains, Unichain moved onto it in October — OP spiked 20% on that news, then gave most of it back — and Hamilton Lane's $958B fund issues natively on Optimism. The tech is real. The token just hasn't been rewarded for it: down 66% this year while $BTC is down about 14% and $ETH is down 25%.

The lesson from today isn't about OP. It's that a listing headline without a date is a trap. Check the date. Then check $OP's chart — the levels above will tell you more than any recycled pump story ever will.
