@axisrobotics, a portfolio company of @PiCoreTeam's $PI Ventures, has announced a program to buy back its new $AXIS token on a regular basis. A portion of profits from the company's commercial contracts will be used to purchase AXIS on the open market, and the amount repurchased will be reported every quarter.

How the AXIS Buyback Works

The scheme ties token purchases to business income rather than to token sales. According to CoinGabbar, Axis calculates net profit after each paid milestone and sets aside a defined portion for the buyback. The same report says a first tranche of $150,000 has been completed, and that quarterly reports will cover milestone revenue, net profit, buyback amounts, execution prices and transaction hashes.

A daily crypto news roundup from CoinStats described the move as small, project-specific support for a single token, a reminder that buybacks of this size are unlikely to shift the wider market.

AXIS is an ERC-20 token on Base with a hard-capped supply of 1 billion, according to the project's community sale page.

Context: Pi Ventures Backing and Recent Volatility

Axis Robotics builds a data engine for robot training. TokenPost reported that Pi Network Ventures took part in the company's $12 million seed round announced on July 27, which was led by Hack VC. Pi Network Ventures is a $100 million initiative set up through the Pi Foundation and launched in May 2025, per the same report. The size of Pi Network Ventures' own contribution was not disclosed.

The buyback follows a turbulent first few weeks for the token. Crypto Briefing reported that AXIS launched on October 21, 2026, and lost about 40% of its value in a single day around October 28 and 29 after on-chain investigator ZachXBT alleged that suspected insiders had sold 42 million tokens. Axis Robotics disputed that account. It said the tokens sold came from the ecosystem allocation delivered through an outside over-the-counter counterparty, and that team and investor allocations, equal to 83.5% of supply, remain locked in a vesting contract co-managed with Binance. The allegations and the company's explanation have not been independently confirmed.

Buybacks do not guarantee price support, and their effect depends on the amount purchased relative to trading volume and supply. Readers can track the quarterly disclosures for the actual figures once they are published.
