Everyone calls the HYPE buyback a floor. The math says it leaks.

The Assistance Fund turns trading fees into $HYPE and burns it — the standard bull case. But the burn no longer beats issuance: daily buybacks run about 21,200 $HYPE , staking emissions roughly 26,900. Buyback covers only 79% of new emissions, a 27% shortfall — about 5,700 tokens added each day.

Now look at who is stuck. Binance froze HYPE withdrawals eight days ago with no reopening date; holders there cannot move coins. $DOGE +0.3%, $ETH -0.1% — yet HYPE's problem was never direction. Perp open interest still sits near $1.7B and funding has paid longs every hour: a widening supply people pay to hold.

My read: buyback real but smaller than the tap. Support is thinner than the story.

I am wrong if buyback tops emissions, or Binance sets a hard reopening date that clears the long overhang. Until then, waiting.

Data as of today. Not financial advice.

Is the floor the burn — or just the narrative everyone repeats?
