Zcash NU7 activated at block 3,543,405 (10:34 UTC+8 Nov 6). Under ZIP 2003, the chain rejects version-4 transactions — the only format that can spend from Sprout, the 2016 privacy pool.
The keys still work. The coins do not move. About 12,224 ZEC remains in Sprout, roughly $16.5M at ~$1,350. The coins stay in issued supply; they are not burned.
A week before the cutoff Sprout held about 22,263 ZEC. Roughly half left. Whatever stayed is now the safest ZEC on the chain — safe even from its owner — unless a future upgrade restores a path.
Target block time also cut from 75s to 25s.
