$ZEC WENT LIVE WITH NU7. AND NOBODY CLapped.

Zcash just shipped its biggest upgrade in years. Block times went from 75 seconds to 25. Confirmation speed tripled. And the coin is still stuck below $1,300.

• NU7 activated at block 3,543,405, 02:34 UTC. Target block time cut from 75s to 25s. First confirmation now averages around 25 seconds for merchants. Exchanges needing 3 confirmations drop from nearly 4 minutes to about 75 seconds.
• 60% of every transaction fee is now pulled OUT of circulation. Miners keep 40%; the rest goes into a reserve that starts feeding back into block rewards around February 2031. The 21M supply cap and halving schedule are untouched.
• The original Sprout privacy pool is dead. About **12,224 ZEC — roughly $15 million** — is now unspendable under current rules. Not burned, but locked. The spec literally warns the ability to spend Sprout funds "may never be re-enabled".
• **This is not a clean bullish catalyst.** $ZEC traded near $1,250 after the upgrade, down almost 6% in 24h, underperforming a market selloff driven by a **$954 million leveraged long liquidation cascade** in Bitcoin.
• **The derivatives picture is the real story.** ZEC futures open interest hit **2.17M tokens** on Nov 4, up from 1.96M on Sunday. Long-short ratio crushed to **0.54** — shorts are crowded and paying funding to stay in. Over $4.29M in shorts were liquidated in a single hour on Binance, Bybit, and OKX versus just $40K in longs.

👇 Which side are you on — 🟢 or 🔴? And be honest: does NU7 actually change anything for ZEC, or is this just a leverage game?
