⚠️ CRYPTO FUTURES: DO YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND LEVERAGE?
Many beginners believe that higher leverage means higher profits.
But experienced traders understand something different:
POSITION SIZING MATTERS MORE THAN LEVERAGE.
Let's understand with a practical example.
Trading Account: $1,000
Maximum Risk: 1%
Maximum Planned Loss: $10
Stop-Loss Distance: 2%
POSITION SIZE CALCULATION:
$10 ÷ 0.02 = $500
Your calculated position size is $500.
Now let's apply 5x leverage.
Required Initial Margin:
$500 ÷ 5 = $100
So:
Account Balance = $1,000
Position Value = $500
Initial Margin = $100
Planned Stop-Loss Risk = $10
Remember:
Leverage changes the margin requirement, not the dollar risk of an otherwise unchanged position.
But liquidation, trading fees, funding and slippage can still create additional risks.
MY FIVE PROFESSIONAL RULES:
1. Calculate risk before opening a trade.
2. Never enter without a defined exit strategy.
3. Avoid excessive leverage.
4. Understand isolated versus cross margin.
5. Protect trading capital during volatile markets.
A professional trader does not need to win every trade.
The real objective is to survive losing trades and remain consistent.
QUESTION:
What leverage do you usually use?
2x, 3x, 5x or 10x?
