Buy the rumor or sell the news?

Where it stands: ZEC trades around $1,250 with a market cap near $21B, one of the top 10 coins. It’s still down about 6% on the week, so today’s jump follows a choppy stretch.

What’s coming: The NU7 network upgrade is expected around Nov 5–6, promising faster block times and better efficiency. A spot Zcash ETF from Grayscale also launched in August, which has kept institutional attention on the coin.

Two views:

🐂 One analyst sees $1,370 as the key breakout level. Clearing it could open a move toward $1,500–$1,700.

🐻 Another warns that traders may have already priced in the upgrade, and a 50–70% correction is possible.

Levels to watch:

🔺 Resistance: $1,243 (recent high), $1,319, $1,370

🔻 Support: ~$1,160, then $1,100–$1,122

Also in the background: a governance dispute over the 8% of block rewards going to community grants. One large holder has even threatened to sell.

⚠️ Risks:

  • ZEC is highly volatile and leverage is heavy in its derivatives market.

  • Big events often cause “sell the news” moves, even when the news is good.

  • If you hold ZEC in your own wallet, update your wallet before the upgrade. Check the Zcash Foundation’s guidance.
