just posted a $19.53B profit for Q3... and the stock still fell
Strategy's results look huge on paper:
• Net income: $19.53B, up from $2.79B a year ago
• Holdings: 848,517 $BTC, about 4% of all $BTC
• Average cost: ~$75,446 per coin
So why are investors selling? Most of that profit is a paper gain from Bitcoin's price rising in Q3, not cash. The company also sold about $431.8M in BTC this year to pay preferred dividends and buy back its own shares, and its CFO Andrew Kang is stepping down on November 5.
For Bitcoin, the important part is that Strategy still holds a massive stack and keeps buying more than it sells. It also shows how closely the company now depends on BTC's price: when Bitcoin moves, Strategy's earnings move with it.
Would you rather hold MSTR or just buy $BTC directly?
