I've been watching a second exchange incident land days after Binance — this one in Brazil.
Mercado Bitcoin suspended deposits and withdrawals on Monday after a security incident in one of its systems. The exchange says no customers lost money and no data leaked — but it has not given a loss figure, named the affected system, or said when withdrawals resume.
Here's the gap: security firm Hypernative flags more than $40 million in outflows from wallets it attributes to the exchange, across at least 10 chains, calling them plain transfers, not a smart-contract exploit. Mercado Bitcoin has not confirmed that figure.
$BTC near $77,727 (-0.35% in 24h) and $ETH near $2,283 (+0.69%) on Binance spot — flat, and I won't claim this story moved that tape. No link to Binance has been established.
