Prediction Markets Just Did $123 BILLION in One Month

October 2026 became the biggest month in prediction market history. Volume smashed through $100 billion for the first time, hitting $123.3 billion — up 53.9% on September's record — across 642.9 million trades, per Artemis data.
Kalshi dominated with $98.2 billion, about 80% of it, while Polymarket took $20.2 billion. US midterm election markets passed $1.4 billion, and crypto contracts on both platforms topped $3 billion for two weeks running for the first time.
Why it matters: prediction markets are no longer a side show — they are fast becoming a mainstream way to trade real-world events, with crypto at the centre of that growth.
One honest caveat: Kalshi counts each contract at its full $1 settlement value, so headline volume is bigger than the cash traders staked. Not financial advice — always do your own research.
Are prediction markets the next big crypto-adjacent boom, or just election-season hype?
