🚨 18 YEARS AGO TODAY, ONE EMAIL CHANGED MONEY FOREVER 🎂

On Oct 31, 2008, at 2:10 p.m. EDT, Satoshi Nakamoto posted a nine-page paper to a cryptography mailing list: "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System." No company, no CEO, no launch event. Just one idea: electronic cash with no trusted third party.

📊 18 YEARS LATER, THE SCOREBOARD
- Network value: ~$1.55 trillion (KuCoin)
- Supply mined: over 95%, the 20 millionth coin mined in March 2026
- US spot ETFs hold ~1.28M BTC, about 6.36% of circulating supply
- Strategy alone holds 848,517 BTC
- Price today: $77,578, down from the Oct 6, 2025 peak of $126,223

🎃 THE HALLOWEEN LADDER (WatcherGuru)
2024: $72,250 → 2025: $110,000 → 2026: $77,400

One bad October does not erase 18 years of compounding, but it does puncture the "number only goes up" story. And the timing is hard to ignore: the same week the whitepaper turns 18, the industry is still counting the cost of the $6.3B Binance theft, which is exactly the trusted-third-party failure Satoshi was designing around.

My take: this is bigger than a birthday post. The real question is whether Bitcoin's original idea survives its own success, because ETFs, corporate treasuries and national reserves are all trusted third parties holding an asset built to not need them.

👀 What to watch:
- Whether ETF flows stabilize after the Oct 30 outflow day
- Whether $BTC holds $76,000 into November
- Whether the custody debate turns into real self-custody moves, not just posts

Is Bitcoin's second act about replacing banks, or being absorbed by them? 🐂🐻

Not financial advice. DYOR.
