Is October's red close a reset, or the start of something longer?

$BTC ended October near $77,428, down about 0.3% in 24h and on track for a 7.7% monthly drop, its worst October since 2014 (CoinGlass via Cointelegraph). Roughly $300B came off total crypto market value during the month (Cointelegraph), and the Fear and Greed Index sat at 30, firmly in Fear, unchanged from yesterday.

📊 The numbers that closed the month
US spot Bitcoin ETFs posted $643M in net outflows on Friday, October 30, with Ethereum ETFs losing a further $156M (Farside). About $427M in leveraged positions were liquidated in 24 hours, 73% of them longs, hitting roughly 93,000 traders (CoinGlass via CryptoTimes). Bitcoin now sits about 39% below its October 2025 all-time high near $126,080.

📊 Why it matters
This was not one catalyst. A $6.3B exchange hack, a tech stock rout, and ETF redemptions all landed in the same final week, so the selloff tested two pillars at once: exchange trust and institutional flow. One red month does not by itself prove a bear market, but it does show how fast the bid can thin when both pillars wobble together.

My take: this is not just a bad month for one asset, it is a stress test of how much of crypto's price now depends on ETF flows and exchange trust, and both wobbled in the same week. That is why the next flow print matters more than the next headline.

🎯 What to watch
Monday November 2 ETF flows, whether they extend Friday's outflow or reverse it
Binance's phased withdrawal restart and proof-of-reserves results due November 2
🟢 Hold $76,338, then reclaim $78,638 and $80,000
🔴 Lose $76,338, and the October low becomes the next downside magnet

Reset to buy, or the first leg of a longer drawdown? 🐂🐻

Not financial advice. DYOR.
