🚨 BINANCE HACK: $6.3 BILLION IMPACT, $3 BILLION FROZEN
Binance faced a major security incident on October 29, 2026, with an estimated $6.3 billion in crypto assets affected across multiple blockchains. On-chain investigations identified transfers involving BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, XRP and other tokens across several networks.
🔒 Binance reported that approximately $3 billion in affected assets had been frozen with help from industry partners, including Tether, Circle and other crypto firms. Investigators tracked movements involving multiple tokens, while some assets may still remain under the attackers’ control.
⚠️ The investigation examined a possible compromise involving a DevOps engineer’s laptop. Binance said it found no evidence that wallet private keys had been leaked and stated that it would cover eligible losses using company funds and its SAFU reserve.
🌐 Withdrawals were temporarily suspended while security systems were being checked and restored. TRM Labs reportedly linked the attack to North Korea-associated TraderTraitor, but attribution and the full scope of the incident remain subject to investigation.
