So here's the question nobody's answering tonight:
Binance is buying back the stolen coins. Who's selling into it?
Let me catch you up, because this moved fast today.
Co-CEO Yi He confirmed Binance is buying altcoins in the exact quantities stolen, to rebuild its reserves before publishing updated proof of reserves. Over $6.34B in company funds is reserved to cover the hack, $5B of it already held in the exact affected tokens. And $3B of the stolen stash is now frozen on-chain.
Withdrawals? Still on track to reopen within about 45 hours of this morning's update. Deposits never stopped.
Meanwhile the market did something interesting. The tokens the hacker dumped first are already bouncing — Ethena up 8.4%, Pepe up 7.3% today, per CoinDesk. And US spot Bitcoin ETFs just logged a fourth straight day of inflows ($17M Thursday, $440.7M for the week) while ETH whales were cutting longs to dodge liquidation.
So put it together: the exchange itself is now a buyer of the dumped coins, institutions are still buying BTC through ETFs, and the panic sellers already had their day.
Live right now: BTC $77,116 (-5.1%), BNB $698.61 (-6.6%), ETH $2,234.61 (-4.7%). BTC's line in the sand is still $76,500 — today's low, holding so far (chart 2 is real 48h klines, dashed line is my projection, not a promise).
My read: watch what Binance's buyback does to the dumped alts over the weekend. That's where the next surprise lives — not in the panic, but in the repair trade.
So — are you buying what Binance is buying back, or waiting for withdrawals to reopen first?
