$XRP : RIPPLE’S RLUSD IS NOW LIVE ON COINBASE — BUT DOES STABLECOIN GROWTH CREATE XRP DEMAND?
Ripple and Coinbase announced a major stablecoin integration on October 28, 2026.
Ripple USD ( $RLUSD ) is now available through Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange, and the Coinbase retail application in supported regions.
The integration expands institutional and retail access to RLUSD, which has surpassed $2.4 billion in market capitalization.
What exactly changed?
1. Customers can deposit and withdraw RLUSD across three blockchain networks: XRP Ledger, Ethereum, and Base.
2. Supported users can convert U.S. dollars into RLUSD at a 1:1 rate.
3. Ripple will provide liquidity on Base to support RLUSD activity.
4. Coinbase Global Exchange support, including the ability to use RLUSD as collateral, is planned for a later stage.
That last point matters: collateral integration has been announced, but it is not part of the initial rollout.
HOW DOES THIS AFFECT $XRP ?
RLUSD and XRP are fundamentally different assets.
RLUSD is a dollar-backed stablecoin supported by reserves including cash deposits, short-term U.S. Treasuries, and cash equivalents.
XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger, used for network fees and other ledger functions.
Greater RLUSD activity on XRP Ledger could increase network usage, but RLUSD also operates on Ethereum and Base.
Therefore, expanding RLUSD distribution does not automatically create proportional XRP buying demand.
Stablecoin market capitalization is also not equivalent to revenue earned by XRP holders.
What should investors monitor?
• RLUSD circulating supply by blockchain.
• Actual transaction volume on XRP Ledger.
• Institutional settlement activity.
• Stablecoin transfers and active addresses.
• Liquidity distribution across supported networks.
• Whether increased usage translates into measurable XRP-related economic activity.
