Bitcoin has been hovering around $80K for days. Not crashing. Not pumping. Just sitting there, being annoying.
And honestly? That’s where most traders lose money. Not on the big dramatic candles, but in the boring chop, where you get impatient and smash buy or sell just to feel something. We’ve all done it. It hurts.
So what’s actually pulling the price right now?
1. The Fed. Rates held, but December hike whispers won’t die. Hike talk makes risk assets nervous.
2. Today’s data. GDP and PCE inflation drop today. Hot number, more hike fear. Cool number, relief rally.
3. ETF money. Flows flipped green again on Oct 26 after ugly outflows earlier in the week. Buyers are creeping back, quietly.
Levels on my chart:
Support: ~$78K
Resistance: ~$81–81.8K
My plan (not advice): I’m not chasing anything. If BTC loses $78K and can’t reclaim it fast, I stay out. If it closes strong above $81.8K on real volume, I look at a long with a tight stop. Anything in between is chop, and sometimes sitting on your hands is the trade.
One rule worth taping to your screen: after big news, let the first 15-minute candle close before you touch anything. The first move is often a fake-out designed to catch the impatient.
Fear & Greed sits at 51. Totally neutral. Nobody’s convinced, and that’s exactly when breakouts get violent.
