Binance is investigating what could be the largest exchange breach in crypto history — and I'm separating what's confirmed from what isn't.

On-chain trackers flagged billions leaving Binance-labelled hot wallets on Thursday from 20:24 UTC. Tallies put the outflows above $5.5 billion across Ethereum, Bitcoin and Tron. Tether says it froze more than $1.567 billion in USDT and Circle more than $800 million in USDC — over $2.3 billion that the attacker can no longer move.

But the gap matters: Binance has not called this a hack or confirmed a loss figure. Its statement calls user funds 'completely safe.' Founder CZ — who no longer runs the exchange — said it 'does look like a hack' and expects all user funds fully covered. That's his view as a shareholder, not a company pledge.

What worries me: frozen stablecoins can be stopped; moved ETH and BTC cannot. Spot tape: $BTC near $79,200 (-2.4%/24h), $BNB near $705 (-6.8%).

If Binance confirms full coverage, does this become a footnote — or does trust in the biggest exchange take a lasting hit? NFA, DYOR.
