One side is shrinking supply. The other is flooding it.

Here is the full picture.

What is being burned:

Hyperliquid takes most of its trading fees and permanently burns $HYPE .

• About 49.9 million HYPE removed so far

• Roughly 5% of max supply

• Worth around $3.9 billion

• Another 19,700 $HYPE burned in the last 24 hours

That part is real. The protocol is doing what it said it would do.

What is being sold:

• One whale sold about 694,000 HYPE, over $50 million, in roughly five days

• Other wallets moved tens of millions more onto exchanges

• Some big traders have opened short positions

What is being unlocked:

Team and contributor tokens are still releasing at roughly 9.9 million HYPE every month.

Now run the math.

At today's pace, burns remove about 600,000 $HYPE a month.

Unlocks add about 9.9 million.

That is roughly 16 tokens unlocked for every 1 burned.

So while the burn headline looks strong, net supply is still growing for now. More HYPE is entering the market through sales and unlocks than is leaving through burns.

Most people only watch the burn number.

The better question is whether fee revenue grows fast enough for the burn to catch up with the unlocks.

Which side are you watching?
