Moody's just stamped Ripple's RLUSD investment-grade — A2 long-term and top-tier P-1 short-term.

Moody's Ratings assigned Ripple USD (RLUSD) an A2 long-term deposit rating and a P-1 short-term deposit rating on October 28, 2026. The agency cited reserves held mainly in short-term U.S. government assets and cash — most of it with BNY — plus a 103% coverage target. Eligible institutional holders can redeem at par within two business days. RLUSD sits around a 2.6 billion dollar market cap.

The rating landed a day after Ripple won final OCC approval for a U.S. national trust bank that will oversee RLUSD reserves. Moody's noted holders currently lack a direct ownership interest in those reserves, though the U.S. GENIUS Act due in 2027 is expected to ring-fence required stablecoin reserves from an issuer's bankruptcy estate. For institutions watching credit quality on dollar stables, this is a concrete new data point.
