Bitwise just lifted its decade-long bitcoin base case to 1.6 million dollars by 2036.

On October 28, 2026, Bitwise Asset Management released its 2027 Bitcoin Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions, raising the 2036 base-case target from about 1.3 million dollars to 1.6 million dollars. The firm frames that as a 34.3% compound annual growth rate — roughly five times its 6.7% U.S. equities forecast and above its 10.8% private-equity projection. Drivers cited: institutions controlling about 147 trillion dollars may allocate 1%–5% to $btc over the next decade (1.5–7 trillion dollars of potential demand) against only about 14 billion dollars of new bitcoin supply per year.

Bitwise also argues bitcoin is maturing: the roughly 50% drawdown from the October 2025 high to the June 2026 low was shallower than prior 77%–86% cycle collapses. CIO Matt Hougan said regulation progress and hard-asset demand support the upgrade, while average volatility may stay near 27.8%.
