ETH looks dead at $2,320. Flat price, weak momentum, everyone staring at the Fed — and underneath it, a record amount of ETH is quietly being locked up.
That's the contradiction defining this market right now, and it's worth understanding before tomorrow's decision.
Here's what the tape actually says. ETH is sitting right on $2,304 support after sliding about 14% in 30 days. RSI is down near 33 — weak, but not washed out. A daily close below $2,304 opens the door toward $2,200, the zone traders like Ted Pillows have flagged as where real buyers could step in. A close back above $2,450 flips the picture. Watch $ETH there — that's the level that decides whether this is a base or a breakdown.
Now the part nobody's pricing in. While spot ETH ETFs bled $88.6M on Monday alone — pushing October's drain past $1.2B, the worst month of 2026 — staking just hit a record: roughly 43–44 million ETH, about 36% of all supply, now locked up. The entry queue is over 1.3 million ETH long, with a wait of more than 24 days. People aren't just holding ETH. They're locking it away while the price falls.
And the biggest buyer isn't stopping. BitMine now holds over 6 million ETH — nearly 5% of the entire supply — with about 86% of it staked. Yes, its buying pace is slowing as it nears its 5% cap, and that's a real question: who buys once it stops? But right now, the flow runs opposite to the ETF story.
The whale tape is messier, and you should know that too. A 2015 ICO whale is still trimming — another 3,000 ETH moved in the last day — and trackers flagged an Ethereum Foundation-linked wallet moving funds to Kraken. But in the same week, exchanges saw a net outflow of nearly 170,000 ETH, the biggest single-day exit in four months. Distribution and lock-up, happening at the same time.
The majors are telling the same split story. $SOL is defending $100, $BNB is holding near $741 as the firmer major, and XRP just got a real catalyst with Ripple's final OCC trust-bank charter. Even Ethereum's next upgrade catalyst slipped this week — the Glamsterdam Hoodi testnet activation was postponed with no new date. Meanwhile the Fed decides tomorrow, and a hold is the ~90% consensus, so the surprise risk sits in the guidance, not the decision. History says flat prices into fully-priced Fed events mean volatility, not a clean break.
So here's the take: the crowd is still about 59% bullish on ETH while the ETF money walks out. That optimism-versus-outflow gap is exactly the kind of tension that resolves fast once the Fed speaks. If $2,304 holds into the decision, the lock-up story has room to matter. If it breaks, $2,200 is where the next real test lives.
