A dormant celebrity account suddenly shilling a token is not alpha. It's a warning sign.

Over the weekend, Playboi Carti's X account (about 3.6M followers, mostly silent since early 2025) added Pump.fun to its bio and then linked a "Carti" token. According to traders tracking it on X, the coin ran to roughly $1.2M market cap within minutes, then dumped more than 90%. The bio and the post were later removed. Fans widely believe the account was hacked; neither Carti's team nor Pump.fun has commented so far.

The pattern is familiar: compromise a big account, launch or point to a fresh token, let followers rush in, sell into the spike. By the time most people see the post, insiders are already out.

My checklist before touching any "celebrity coin":
- Has the person confirmed it on more than one official channel?
- Who holds the supply, and how fast did early wallets buy?
- Is there real liquidity, or just a thin pool?

For context, $SOL itself is holding near $101 today after a 24h low around $99.88, so the $100 level still matters. Memecoin mania on Solana doesn't change that structure.

Protect your capital first. A missed pump costs nothing; a rug costs everything you put in.
