Decibel (@DecibelTrade), a dedicated perpetuals exchange built on @Aptos $APT, has processed more than 31 million trades and generated over $8.5 billion in total volume. The figures are notable given that the exchange only launched on mainnet earlier this year.
DefiLlama's dashboard lists cumulative perp volume for Decibel at about $8.56 billion, all of it on Aptos. The same page shows 30-day perp volume of roughly $1.3 billion, which suggests recent activity is running well below the cumulative pace.
From testnet to mainnet
Decibel is incubated by Aptos Labs. CoinDesk reported that the exchange went live on the Aptos mainnet in late February, after a public testnet that drew more than 700,000 unique accounts and 132,000 daily active users, according to the Decibel Foundation. More than $58 million was committed through a pre-deposit campaign before launch.
The exchange runs a central limit order book in which order placement, matching, settlement and risk management all happen onchain. Users can fund accounts from Aptos, Ethereum, Solana or centralized exchanges, per the same report.
Decibel has since broadened its product range. It added BTC-USDC and APT-USDC spot markets, according to a KuCoin News report, which also cited more than $5 billion in cumulative volume at that point. In a later update, TheStreet reported that the exchange had crossed $7 billion, with over $1 billion routed through third-party apps via its Builder Codes program. The same report said each trade burns a small amount of APT, linking trading activity to the token's supply.
A crowded sector
Decibel is entering a competitive field. CoinDesk noted that onchain perpetuals racked up about $920 billion in trading volume over a 30-day period, according to DefiLlama, with established platforms such as Hyperliquid and Lighter already well ahead. Whether Decibel's volume converts into lasting market share, and a stronger Aptos ecosystem more broadly, will depend on how well it retains traders as incentives and points programs mature.
