$APT tokenomics just quietly changed character, and X is starting to notice.
The four-year vesting cycle for early investors and core contributors wrapped up in October. Per Everstake's estimate, scheduled monthly APT releases drop from roughly 11.31M to about 4.54M tokens, a ~60% cut in fresh supply hitting the market every month.
That lands on top of the governance changes already live since March: a hard cap of 2.1B APT, staking rewards cut from 5.19% to 2.6%, and a 10x gas fee increase with fees permanently burned. The Foundation has also committed to keep 210M APT staked from its treasury.
My take: this is a supply story, not yet a demand story. Burns still offset only around 10% of issuance, so APT is still inflationary, just much less so. The unlock overhang that weighed on every rally is mostly gone, which removes a headwind, but it doesn't create buyers by itself. What I'd watch next is whether onchain activity keeps growing enough to push burns meaningfully higher, and how price reacts on the daily chart now that the monthly unlock dates stop being a predictable sell event.
Lower supply pressure plus real usage can be a strong combo. Lower supply pressure alone is just a cleaner starting line.
