Robinhood Chain is a useful case study in the gap between launch hype and lasting usage.
The Arbitrum-based L2 went live on July 1 and briefly outpaced Base on 30-day volume. Now the numbers have cooled hard. Per DefiLlama, 24h DEX volume was about $577M as of Oct 24, with 7-day volume at $5.61B, down 14.6% week over week. Blackroom Alpha's DefiLlama-based tracker puts 30-day DEX volume at $31.6B, down 41.9% versus the prior 30 days. Daily chain fees are around $43K, a far cry from roughly $8M on the busiest day in early September.
What I find more interesting is what did not crack. TVL still sits near $1.13B, stablecoin supply is around $1.05B, and perps volume is about $1.03B a day. So the money is mostly staying put; it is just trading less. Robinhood is also still covering network fees on swaps above $0.50 through Dec 31.
My take: memecoin-driven activity spikes fade fast on every new chain. The real test for Robinhood Chain is whether tokenized stocks, RWAs and perps can build steady demand once the memecoin wave is gone. Sticky deposits are a decent sign. Falling fees are the warning.
Watching $ARB as the base layer under the chain, and $ETH as the settlement layer.
