Ethereum just hit pause on Glamsterdam's next test, and the reason matters more than the delay.
The Hoodi testnet activation planned for Oct 26 (17:42 UTC) is off. No new date yet, and the planned 200M gas limit bump on Hoodi is pulled too.
Why: core devs want more time on EIP-8037 (state creation gas) and how it interacts with contracts already live on mainnet. ChainSecurity flagged that, combined with EIP-8038, the new gas math can let some contracts finish failure-handling code that used to revert, which could make a failed operation stick permanently. They say they've found 13 real-world examples and are disclosing privately.
My take: this is the process working. Sepolia already ran it Oct 6, and catching edge cases on testnet beats catching them on mainnet. But Glamsterdam carries ePBS, block-level access lists and gas repricing, so every slip pushes back the L1 scaling story.
$ETH ~2,327 (-3.4% 24h, ~$514M volume, Binance spot 03:15 KST), 24h low 2,282. ETH/BTC 0.0290.
Bull case: holding 2,280-2,300 and reclaiming 2,375-2,410 while devs ship a fix plan.
Bear case: losing 2,280 with a vague timeline adds a narrative headwind to weak flows.
No action needed for mainnet users or ETH holders per the EF.
