Tesla and SpaceX could pool $2.5 B in Bitcoin without buying more

SpaceX disclosed 18,712 BTC in its June IPO filing, while Tesla reported it still holds 11,509 BTC. Together the two companies own 30,221 BTC, valued at roughly $2.5 billion at current prices.

If a merger proceeds, the combined Bitcoin stash would rank sixth among public companies—ahead of Coinbase and Bullish, but behind MARA Holdings. Elon Musk said both firms have formed special committees of independent directors to study the idea, but no agreement on terms exists and shareholders would need to approve a deal that requires backing from holders of 50 % of all shares.

Trader Scott Melker notes the merger would consolidate ownership without creating new demand, as neither company has signaled plans to buy or sell additional Bitcoin.
