Quantum computing is still developing, but preparing for its possible impact on blockchain security is worth taking seriously.

GOAT Network has been working on two important areas.

First, its validator consensus keys are being moved from secp256k1 toward ML-DSA-65, a post-quantum cryptographic standard.

Second, its BitVM bridge work is exploring how zero-knowledge proofs can be verified on Bitcoin more practically.

The first phase of the bridge prototype reduced the proof size to 69 KiB.

These are technical developments, but the bigger picture is simple.

Building blockchain infrastructure isn’t only about what works today. It’s also about preparing for the challenges that could come tomorrow.

GOAT isn’t something I’d describe as quantum-proof. Its work is better understood as preparation for a potential future threat.
