BTC’s pullback is clearing leverage, not attracting a wave of new shorts.

$BTC retreated from an intraday high of $84,786 to about $82,804. Since the Oct 22 daily snapshot, #Binance BTCUSDT perpetual open interest fell from 98,002 BTC to 93,869 BTC, roughly 4.2%. The latest 8-hour funding rate was slightly negative at -0.0021%.

The interesting part isn’t the red candle. It’s that positions disappeared while price fell. That looks more like a #Leverage reset than traders aggressively building fresh short exposure.

Now watch the rebuild. If price stabilizes while #OI stops falling and funding stays near neutral, the market has cleaner footing. If OI rises quickly before price recovers, volatility risk returns.
