CRYPTO VAULT DEPOSITS JUST TOPPED $10 BILLION, AND REGULATORS ARE CIRCLING $MORPHO 'S CORNER OF DEFI 🚨
Financial Times reported on Oct 19 that DeFi lending vaults now hold over $10B, up from about $4B at the start of 2025. Each vault has a curator who picks the lending strategy, sets risk limits and takes fees, usually paying 3–10% and 20%+ on riskier ones. Fintechs with big stablecoin balances, treasury firms and hedge funds are the main depositors, per Steakhouse Financial, the largest vault manager. Morpho's protocol runs much of this curated market. The worry is the collateral: illiquid tokens, crypto-backed stablecoins and tokenized private credit, plus automatic liquidations that can speed up a selloff. Kaiko's Léopold Wenger called it "very dangerous". The SEC said in July it is reviewing whether vaults fall under securities law, and ESMA proposed DeFi gatekeeper rules in September.
$MORPHO down 1.8% on the day after getting rejected at 2.568, and it's still well under its 2.98 September high.
1H chart:
• Testing: 2.405–2.416 (MA50)
• If defended: 2.456 (MA20), then 2.517
• If lost: 2.387 (MA200), then 2.304
Daily chart:
• Testing: 2.405–2.474 (MA50)
• If defended: 2.568, then 2.816
• If lost: 2.261, then 2.228
Hold 2.405 → vault growth keeps a bid under it, 2.568 is the magnet
Lose 2.405 → 2.304, then 2.261 come back
