Kazakhstan's financial-center court is now an enforcement hammer — six crypto platforms are on the wrong end of it.
AFSA, the Astana International Financial Centre regulator, announced today that the AIFC Court granted its claims September 15, enjoining six crypto platforms from offering services or distributing mobile apps inside the AIFC without a license. One platform named in the original order was removed September 18 after blocking Kazakh access on its own. The sharp edge: Google and Apple are covered as app-store operators, with court orders to restrict the apps geographically. With crypto onboarding running heavily through mobile, that lever may bite harder than the AIFC-only trading ban (not a nationwide ban — the court stressed that).
Why it matters: regulators now go after distribution, not just platforms. AFSA warned 20+ platforms in 2025; nine restricted access; seven promised licenses. If app-store geography becomes the standard tool, the unlicensed-exchange model gets structurally harder.
Would Kazakh users move to licensed venues — or simply look for alternatives? $BTC NFA. DYOR.
