Germany’s Sparkassen savings-bank network has begun rolling out cryptocurrency trading through its existing banking app, starting with selected participating banks. DekaBank’s “Krypto, powered by Deka” service supports $BTC , $ETH , $XRP , $SOL and $POL , with DekaBank providing trading and custody. Availability is not yet network-wide.
Customers open a separate crypto account in the Sparkasse app. DekaBank holds private keys in an omnibus custody arrangement, and outgoing transfers are restricted to wallet addresses at certain approved crypto-asset service providers. The bank says cryptocurrencies are not covered by statutory deposit insurance, and trading may be interrupted by technical or market conditions.
The launch expands regulated retail access through an established German banking channel, but it does not establish how much cryptocurrency customers have purchased.
