JPMorgan has brought JPM Coin to Ethereum for institutional clients, according to its October 19 announcement reported by The Block.

The practical change: bank deposits can move onchain alongside tokenized assets, potentially reducing the need to move cash between separate systems.

JPM Coin represents existing dollar deposits at JPMorgan. It previously launched on Base; this expansion adds Ethereum.

For $ETH, the useful distinction is between the settlement network and the money moving across it. Institutions can use Ethereum infrastructure while the payment asset remains bank-issued dollars.

That makes this an infrastructure development. Its longer-term significance will depend on actual payment activity and integration with tokenized assets.
