JPMorgan just put bitcoin in its bible.

On Oct 19, J.P. Morgan Asset Management released its 2027 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions — the first time bitcoin has ever appeared in the 31-year-old report. The forecast: 10% compound annual returns over 10–15 years, ahead of US large caps (7.5%), REITs (8.2%), and gold (5.5%).

The fine print matters more than the headline. JPM models bitcoin's annualized volatility at 55% — triple stocks — which is why the 20.9% arithmetic average collapses to 10% compounded. And the bank kept bitcoin out of its sample portfolio allocations: unstable correlations mean it won't yet tell clients how much to own.

Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan called it the moment bitcoin went from laughed-at to modeled. A forecast isn't a recommendation — but when the industry's benchmark assumptions table makes room for bitcoin, advisers start having to explain why they own none of it.

$BTC near $81,574, down ~1.4%. Is 10% compounded — after 55% volatility — the number that finally gets pension committees moving? NFA. DYOR.
